Congratulations to the talented students of Chulalongkorn School of Integrated Innovation (CSII) for their remarkable achievement at the Inspiring Asia 2024 Micro Film Festival! BAScii student film, "Second Chance," directed by Thanyaporn Juntiwa and produced by the Design for Thailand Team under CSII Social Innovation Lab, earned the prestigious Next Gen Award—a recognition for the most popular student-produced film. This award celebrates the voice and vision of the next generation, awarding the team a well-deserved prize of $1,000.
A Story That Inspires Hope
"Second Chance" is a compelling short film that highlights the reintegration challenges faced by ex-prisoners, showcasing their potential as an untapped resource for society. The film features heartfelt conversations with individuals involved in Restart Academy - an innovative sandbox project by Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ) designed to support the re-entry process for formerly incarcerated individuals.
As a proud partner of TIJ, CSII collaborates to emphasize the transformative power of social innovation in driving meaningful change. The film goes beyond the surface, offering a behind-the-scenes look into Restart Kitchen, where real stories of resilience unfold. Khun Thanachai Suntharavet (P'Mek), Senior Manager of Social Partnership and Public Engagement at TIJ, shares valuable insights into the impact of this groundbreaking initiative.
Through powerful storytelling, the student team behind "Second Chance" aimed to inspire hope and foster understanding of the importance of second chances.
Director Thanyaporn Juntiwa, a first-year BAScii student, shared her pride and gratitude:
"It is truly an honor to receive this prestigious award, and I’m incredibly proud to share our journey of inspiring hope and giving second chances to others. Lastly, I want to thank my amazing team for their dedication and commitment—it was a joy to work with all of you."
