CSII Students Shine on UC Berkeley’s Global Stage

Two students from the Chulalongkorn School of Integrated Innovation (CSII) have captured the spotlight in the newsletter of UC Berkeley’s Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology (SCET).

Bhira Songsaeng and Sudev Bhatia, both of whom were part of the first batch of CSII students and spent a startup semester at UC Berkeley’s SCET, have been featured in the segment titled “What Students Are Saying.” The two students have just concluded their studies and they will be among the first batch of CSII graduates in October of this year.

Speaking to global audiences, Bhira describes his semester at UC Berkeley as a great way to immerse himself in diverse cultures and in the startup ecosystem, where he gets to meet people from all around the world. When asked about one big global problem he would like to solve with technology, Bhira identifies the generation of cheap power for everyone. He believes that it makes more sense for developing countries to focus on renewable energy instead of establishing infrastructure for fossil fuels. “Not only is it less expensive to create, but it is also better for the environment,” he adds.

For Sudev, the opportunity to meet diverse people and immerse himself in a vibrant ecosystem at SCET was a huge plus, along with the chance to explore the Bay Area. Sudev identifies the eradication of health problems as the one big global issue he would like to solve with technology. He hopes to contribute to healthcare technology and to ensure that there is a cure for all diseases, including cancer and other major health problems. “That is my hope for the future,” Sudev adds.

This is not the first time that CSII students have been highlighted by UC Berkeley’s SCET. Previously, seven CSII students were featured in SCET’s Global Student Profiles. Additionally, one student, Chawin Viriyasopon, was selected from over one hundred Berkeley students to participate in the 2022 Form+Fund Fellowship, becoming the first Thai person to attend the program.
