Current positions:

  • Executive Director, Chulalongkorn School of Integrated Innovation (CSII), Chulalongkorn University (2024 – present)
  • Co-founder, Herb Guardian Co., Ltd. (2019 – present), spin-off Company Incubated by CU Innovation Hub
  • Director, the Center of Excellence in DNA Barcoding of Thai Medicinal Plants (2018 – present), leading a national initiative in plant DNA barcoding and collaborating with international institution.
  • Professor, Department of Pharmacognosy and Pharmaceutical Botany, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chulalongkorn University (2018 – present)

  • Ph.D. in Plant Molecular Biology, University of Kentucky, U.S.A. (2004)
  • M.Sc. in Pharmacognosy, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand (1994)
  • B.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand (1990)

  • Second Vice President of Chulalongkorn University Faculty Senate (2021 – 2024)
  • Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Chulalongkorn University (2013 – 2021)
  • Assistant Manager, Community Pharmacy Drug Store (Osotsala) (2004 – 2007)
 

Notable achievements:

  • Authored numerous publications in pharmacognosy and plant molecular biology, with significant citations and an H-index reflecting impactful contributions to the field.
  • Holds 5 petty patents, including “A Quick and field deployable CRISPR-Cas12a diagnostic kit” (Petty Patent No. 2303003695) and “Primer set, method for DNA detection of Aristolochia genus” (Petty Patent No. 2103001539), showcasing the commitment to innovation and contributing to intellectual property development.
  • Received multiple awards, including “Expert Honorable Member of the National Herbal Commission” (Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, Ministry of Public Health), “Gold Medal, FIRI Award (Iran) & Special Prize (Czech republic)” (17th International Invention and Innovation Show (INTARG® 2024), Poland), “Gold Medal for Phytfoon PM2.5 removal spray” (48th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva 2022, Switzerland).
  • Raised over $500,000 in research grants to push the development of pharmaceutical technologies and agricultural research development.
 

Research areas:

  • Plant Molecular Biology – focusing on the molecular mechanisms and genetic aspects of medicinal plants.
  • Pharmacognosy – studying of medicinal drugs derived from plants and other natural sources.
  • DNA Barcoding of Medicinal Plants – focusing on species identification and bio-identification of herbal products.
  • Herbal Medicine Quality Control – writing monographs for the registration and quality control of herbal medicine formulations.
  • Innovative Health Products Development – research and development of new technologies for the commercialization of health products integrating herbs and pharmaceutical technology.
  • Antinociceptive and Anti-inflammatory Studies – investigating the effects of various plant extracts on pain and inflammation.
  • Antimicrobial and Antioxidant Research – exploring the antimicrobial properties of plant extracts and their potential applications in food safety.
  • Cancer Research – studying the anticancer effects of plant compounds and their mechanisms of action.
  • Bioactive Compounds Isolation – isolation and characterization of bioactive compounds from various plant sources.
  • Ethnopharmacology – investigating traditional uses of plants and their biological activities.
  • Delivered multiple talks to promote science, entrepreneurship and innovation in research and education.
