Festivities and Talent Display Welcome Prospective Applicants at Open House

A host of activities, festivities, project showcase, talent display, lectures, and workshops welcomed prospective applicants on the occasion of Open House organized by the Chulalongkorn School of Integrated Innovation (ScII) on 1-2 April 2023. Themed as ‘DeScII Your Tomorrow,’ the event, which was organized as a part of Chulalongkorn University’s Open House, was a one-of-its-kind two-day event where visitors could sample the myriad academic programs offered by the University.

“We are a unique school, and innovation runs throughout the school ecosystem,” Professor Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai remarked while delivering the inaugural address. Once a Chula student himself, Prof. Worsak added, he was informed that his four-year Bachelor’s degree program would equip him with skills that would last throughout his career. “This is no longer true. Change isn’t coming: it is already here. Moreover, disruptive change is inevitable,” Prof. Worsak said. It is no longer possible to acquire knowledge and skills once and spend the rest of our lives applying them. This is precisely why ScII equips its students with 21st-century skills,” Prof. Worsak added.

ScII endows its students with basic knowledge including Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Arts, Business, and Social Science. ”In addition to focusing on key 21st-century skills, the program provides a thorough understanding of global culture and future literacy needs, including financial literacy, information literacy, digital literacy, and geopolitical literacy,” Prof. Worsak added. “The five hallmarks of education in our four-year Bachelor of Arts and Science in Integrated Innovation (BAScii) program are dual core knowledge in technology and entrepreneurship, the wisdom tree, project-based learning, an international environment, and an open platform for real-world collaborations.”

Also presenting the uniqueness of the BAScii curriculum was Dr. Warinya Chemnasiri, Director of Academic Affairs at ScII. Students attending the Open House event were also participated inworkshops titled Greening your Business, Beyond the Plate, The power of Prototyping, and Innovating through Design.

Live demonstrations of student projects, interactive sessions with BAScii students, and an exhibition on how to design one’s own future were further hallmarks of the event.
