Thailand Challenge Winner Advances to Entrepreneurship World Cup Global Finals

Team Jasberry, that emerged victorious in the highly competitive Thailand Challenge in the Entrepreneurship World Cup (EWC) has now advanced to the Entrepreneurship World Cup Global Finals being held from 9-12 March 2023 at Biban in Saudi Arabia. A hundred startups from around the world will now compete for the US$1 million prize.

The Thailand round was held on the premises of the Chulalongkorn School of Integrated Innovation (ScII) on October 25, 2022, where nine teams pitched their innovations to four judges in the contest co-hosted by ScII. The Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) and the Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority (Monsha’at) are the global organizers of the event, while GEN (Thailand) is the national organizer for Thailand. The National Innovation Agency (NIA), ScII, and the Young Seekers Thailand are the event partners.

Jasberry, an initiative of Peetachai (Neil) Dejkraisak and Palmmy Wong pitched as “This little grain of rice has the power to change the world” impressed the four judges as they declared them winners. Jasberry is already being marketed in half a dozen countries, and the creators hope to benefit 4,000 farm households by 2024.

 Second prize went to CERO: The Infinite Digital Green Chain, the brainchild of a team consisting of Chatchai K., Woraphong J., Sakayong P., Weena C., and Chalermpol H., who created an innovative model of carbon-based economy circulation that tokenizes green initiatives and rewards individuals. Third prize went to Pestation, which was led by a team composed of Tham Thammanoonku, Suveer Bhatia, and Tanyaporn Kijrungviroj, their innovation being the replacement of pesticides with a device that uses a sound frequency emitter and a harmonic radar to deter pests.

Other participating teams included Biocafé: Beauty Beyond the Brew, B.Studious: Learning is for Everyone, DeFire: A Carbon Credit Platform for Reducing Crop Burning Practices, Finema: Next Gen Digital Identity, Omoo: All -in -O ne Conversation Commerce Tools for Service Industries,” and “Shout!: New Generation of Influencer Marketing,”


Welcoming the contestants were Steve Cheah of GEN (Thailand) and Dr. Pietro Borsano of ScII. Sheung-yuen Lee, Director, Hong Kong Economic and Trade Affairs, Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China, Dr. Borsano of ScII, Djoann Fal of Atlas Capital, and Chaipat Lawsirirat, Dean of Faculty of Sports Science, Chulalongkorn University were the judges.
