On November 15th, 2024, Chulalongkorn School of Integrated Innovation (CSII) hosted a vibrant Loy Krathong workshop, bringing together CSII members and BAScii International community to celebrate one of Thailand’s most cherished traditions.
The workshop provided participants with a hands-on experience in crafting krathongs—floating offerings traditionally made from banana leaves, flowers, and candles. Students and staff, including many from diverse cultural backgrounds, gathered to learn about the Loy Krathong festival, its history, and its significance in Thai culture.
Bridging Traditions
For many international students, this was their first encounter with the Loy Krathong festival, and the workshop offered a unique opportunity to connect with Thai culture on a deeper level.
The activity was more than just crafting; it was a celebration of community and cultural exchange. As participants shared stories and laughs, the workshop became a space for building connections and fostering a sense of belonging within CSII and BAScii communities.
Embracing Cultures at CSII
Loy Krathong, celebrated on the night of the full moon in November, symbolizes gratitude to the water goddess and letting go of past misfortunes. By hosting this workshop, CSII provided an enriching platform for students and staff to engage with this tradition firsthand, promoting a deeper appreciation for Thailand’s cultural heritage.
The Loy Krathong workshop reflects CSII’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and culturally enriched environment for its BAScii International students and staff. By blending academic excellence with cultural experiences, CSII ensures that its community members not only thrive as innovators but also grow as global citizens.
