Aprons on, woks sizzling, and mortars pounding - it looked a little like a MasterChef episode, but with more laughter and the unmistakable aroma of Thai herbs in the air (a CSII twist). On March 7, 2025, CSII’s international and exchange students, faculty, and staff stepped into The Food School for a hands-on Thai cooking workshop that brought everyone a little closer to the heart of Thai culture.

In pairs, participants took on the challenge of crafting Somtam Thai with soft-shell crab and the comforting classic Tom Kha Kai - some with impressive knife skills, others with great enthusiasm. More than just a fun afternoon, the cooking workshop became a space for connection, learning, and laughter. Everyone left with new skills, full stomachs, and a deeper appreciation for the culture that surrounds them.

At CSII, we believe that learning happens everywhere - not just in classrooms, but also around shared meals, new experiences, and cultural exchange. It’s about understanding the world by living it. Workshops like these are just one of the many ways we foster a supportive international community and make sure students from around the world feel right at home. After all, learning at CSII is immersive, inclusive - and sometimes, just a little bit spicy.
