Thailand has a long history of pharmaceutical development and traditional herbal medicine, combining modern healthcare with centuries-old natural remedies. With a strong foundation in both scientific research and traditional practices, the country offers valuable insights into health and well-being innovations. Exploring this unique landscape, CSII recently hosted students from Shen Yang Pharmaceutical University for a two-week exchange program focused on advancing pharmaceuticals and healthcare systems in Thailand.
An Immersive Learning Experience in Healthcare
From February 9-22, 2025, nine students and one lecturer from Shen Yang Pharmaceutical University in Shenyang, Liaoning (China) visited CSII as part of the "Advancing Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare Systems in Thailand 2025" program. As a result, this immersive two-week experience provided participants with a unique opportunity to explore Thailand’s healthcare innovations, pharmaceutical advancements, and rich cultural heritage.

At the core of the program was a hands-on learning approach. From attending CSII courses on health and well-being innovation, led by Dr. Ning, Dr. Sébastien, and Dr. Maxime to a Thai culture and language classes, participants gained valuable academic and cultural insights. In addition, Site visits to the Museum of Human Body, the Herbs Museum, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, and Baiya Phytopharm Co., Ltd. enriched their understanding of Thailand’s medical and pharmaceutical landscape.

A standout highlight of the program was the two-day excursion to Prachinburi, where students delved into the world of Thai herbal medicine at the Abhaibhubejhr Thai Herbal Medicine Museum. The experience was enhanced by both a traditional Thai herbal dinner and a hands-on workshop in inhaler and balm-making, allowing students to explore practical applications of Thai herbal remedies.

Broadening Perspectives Through Global Learning
Innovation thrives when we look beyond our own experiences, industries, and even borders. This immersive pharmaceutical exchange program encouraged students to explore healthcare challenges from new perspectives, combining academic knowledge with cultural insights. Through hands-on learning, site visits, and a final pitch presentation, participants applied their understanding to real-world problems. At CSII, we believe that educating yourself on different countries and cultures is essential to shaping well-rounded innovators. By fostering global collaboration and interdisciplinary learning, this exchange program not only broadened students' horizons but also reinforced CSII’s mission to create impactful, innovation-driven experiences.
