Let’s be honest - when you hear “Health & Wellbeing specialization,” you might picture endless lectures about nutrition or fitness routines your gym influencer friend already told you about. But that’s not what BAScii is about, and definitely not what happened on 5 August 2025, when our Health & Wellbeing faculty team hosted their very first Intro Night.
Instead of PowerPoint slides and polite applause (althought there was some), students got a hands-on crash course in the weird, fascinating, and surprisingly entrepreneurial world of health innovation. Here’s what went down - and more importantly, why this specialization might actually be your thing ⤵️
1. You get to actually make things
Ever wondered what it takes to create your own herbal supplement? At one activity station, students tried their hand at supplement design and even explored the realities of scaling up to manufacturing. At another, they experimented with eco-materials that could shape the next wave of sustainable products. This is not “memorize the textbook, regurgitate on the exam.” This is learn by doing, and if you like the idea of turning science into something tangible (and maybe even marketable), you’ll feel right at home here.

2. You’ll study the problems the world actually cares about
Forget hypothetical case studies from the 1990s. At Intro Night, one corner focused on the principle of evapotranspiration and how it ties to global warming and heat shock - the same stuff making cities hotter and crops less resilient right now. Another featured modern hygiene technologies, which, let’s face it, we only started appreciating properly after the pandemic. Health & Wellbeing isn’t just about theory - it’s about building solutions to challenges that shape the future of our societies.
3. You’ll find your people (and maybe your co-founders)
Of course, no BAScii event is complete without food - this time, Korean snacks fueled open conversations between students and professors. But it wasn’t small talk. Students swapped ideas about health-related businesses, entrepreneurship opportunities, and startup possibilities in the wellbeing sector. The atmosphere was equal parts casual hangout and serious brainstorming session. If you’re the kind of person who wants mentors, teammates, and future collaborators all in one room, this specialization is your networking goldmine.

So, what’s in it for you?
Health & Wellbeing at CSII isn’t about becoming a doctor or a wellness influencer (sorry, Instagram). It’s about learning to innovate at the crossroads of science, sustainability, and entrepreneurship - and then using those skills to actually make a difference. Whether your dream is launching a biotech startup, designing eco-friendly health products, or just having the coolest dinner-table conversations about evapotranspiration, this specialization has you covered.
A big thank you to everyone who joined us for the very first Health & Wellbeing Intro Night - your curiosity and energy made the evening a success. This is just the beginning.
