Samester Abroad (Inbound)

The four-year Bachelor of Arts and Science in Integrated Innovation (BAScii) program offered by the Chulalongkorn School of Integrated Innovation (ScII) includes a mandatory outbound semester abroad for all students. The program offers a great opportunity for BAScii students to enhance their international life experience both academically and culturally. A semester or a year spent abroad will help to prepare our students to truly become global citizens of tomorrow.

Inbound Students Requirements and Application

Requirements for Application:

  • A cumulative GPA of no less than 2.75
  • A valid English language proficiency test scores (native English speakers will be exempted):
    • TOEFL: not lower than 80 (internet-based) / not lower than 550 (paper-based) or
    • IELTS: not lower than 6.5 overall or
    • SAT: not lower than 500 (evidence-based reading and writing) or
    • ACT English (American College Testing Assessment): not lower than 37 or
    • Duolingo English Test not lower than 105 or
    • Gaokao English not lower than 110 or
    • HKDSE English not lower than Level 4 or
    • General Scholastic Ability Test (GAST or Xue Ce) not lower than 12 or TELC ‘B’ grade or
    • A letter from home university certifying for the student’s English-language proficiency.
  • Supporting Documents
    • A passport photo with white background
    • A reference letter from home university academic advisor
    • An official academic transcript
    • A copy of the first page of the applicant’s passport
    • An SOP or Statement of Purpose (500-800 words)
    • A list of courses of interest the applicant would like to study at CSII.

Remarks: Beginning from the Fall semester 2021, all inbound students must obtain an official documentation of vaccination against COVID-19 before entering the Kingdom of Thailand.

Nominations must be submitted by the student’s home university to Pachar.k@chula.ac.th.

Application Process

  • Home university will send the list of nominated students with their key information and contact details to CSII
  • Nominated candidate will receive application instructions from CSII and must complete the application by the announced application deadline.
  • CSII will processed the candidate’s application, issue and send the letter of acceptance for accepted candidate to their home university (the letter is for the purpose of visa application).

Visa and Immigration Information

Visa Extension
  • All inbound students must acquire a Non-Immigration Visa “ED” (Education) prior to their arrival.
  • For the first entry with student visa, the maximum period of stay will be 90 days. Students can extend their student visa by contacting ScII at least one month before its expiry date.
  • Those who failed to extend and/or overstay their visas can face charges and penalties:
  • The fine for overstaying is 500 Baht per day, a maximum fine of 20,000 Baht will be applied for 40 or more days.
  • Those who are overstaying for over 90 days could be banned from entering the Kingdom of Thailand:
  • In case of surrendering to the authorities.

Re-Entry Permit

  • If you would like to travel outside Thailand, you will need to apply for a Re-Entry permit. The fees are 1,000 Baht for single entry and 3,800 Baht for multiple entries.

90 Day Report

  • Inbound students must file a report to inform the Immigration Bureau of their current address every 90 days. A report must be filed within 15 days before or after 7 days of the 90 days expiration. however, if you leave Thailand anytime during the 90-Day period, the day count will restart from 1 upon your re-entry into Thailand.

On-campus Accommodation

Chulalongkorn University offers an on-campus residence for international students and lecturers, Chulalongkorn University International House (CU iHouse). Every unit is fully furnished with air conditioning, modern conveniences, 24-hour security and safety systems.  The residence is included in the university’s shuttle bus services.
