Samester Abroad (Outbound)

The four-year Bachelor of Arts and Science in Integrated Innovation (BAScii) program offered by the Chulalongkorn School of Integrated Innovation (CSII) includes a mandatory outbound semester abroad for all students. The program offers a great opportunity for BAScii students to enhance their international life experience both academically and culturally. A semester or a year spent abroad will help to prepare our students to truly become global citizens of tomorrow.

Outbound Students Requirements and Application

Conditions:

  • Study one semester at a partner university
  • Tuition and other fees are to be paid at CSII *
  • Credits earned at a partner university are transferable to CSII
  • CSII may impose a limit of maximum number of students under this program (e.g., a maximum of 20 per partner university).
  • The selection of successful candidates will be at the sole discretion of the partner university

Requirements for Application:

    • Must be a third-year student and above. Fourth year student can apply for Fall semester only.
    • A cumulative GPA of no less than 2.75
    • Must not have any records of behavioral penalties and/or academic suspension.
    • A valid English language proficiency test score:
      • TOEFL: not lower than 80 (internet-based) / not lower than 550 (paper-based) or
      • IELTS: not lower than 6.5 overall
    • Supporting Documents
      • A passport photo with white background
      • A reference letter from an academic advisor
      • An official academic transcript (issued by the Registration Office)
      • A copy of the first page of the passport (the validity of the passport must cover the semester-abroad period)
      • A Statement of Purpose (maximum 1,000 words). The applicant’s SOP must answer the following questions:
        • Why are you interested in applying for the program?
        • What benefits do you expect to gain from the program?
        • How do you plan to represent your identity, community, and CSII at the partner university?

* Students are recommended to write separate statement of purpose for each university.

Student’s Responsibilities

  • Course and other fees to be paid before departure (course fees shall be calculated by CSII by ascertaining the difference between CSII tuition fees and course fees charged by the partner university). In cases where the tuition fees (and other costs) are above regular CSII tuition fees, the student will pay the excess amount.
  • Passport and visa fees
  • Airfare, travel, and other living expenses
  • Accommodation reservation and fees
  • Insurance coverage
  • Medical check-ups

Academic Calendar

Remarks: Some partner universities may have different semester duration. Applicants are advised to carefully check and plan their application accordingly.

Application Process

Application to CSII
  • Applicants complete an application and upload the supporting documents online.
Selection and Nomination
  • Selection process by CSII will be based on the applicants’ academic performance (GPAX), English language proficiency scores, and statement of purpose.
  • Selected candidates will be nominated to partner universities with their key information and contact details.
  • Nominated candidates will receive further instructions from the partner universities and must complete all other requirements by the deadlines announced by the partner universities (different partner universities can have different process and deadlines).
  • The partner universities will issue and send the letter of acceptance for accepted candidates either to CSII or directly to the candidates.
  • The letter is for the purpose of visa application.
Course Mapping Request and Credits Transfer
  • To be eligible for credits transfer, each student must submit their course mapping request for the approval of CSII before departure.
  • Students must receive at least a C or the equivalent for the courses that they have taken at the partner university to be eligible for credits transfer at CSII.
  • Credits received from courses taken at the partner university can only transfer to Free Elective and Specialization Courses at ScII.  The courses also must match in terms of titles, prerequisites, and descriptions.
Cancellation
  • Applicants can only cancel their semester-abroad application before the selection process begins.
