Chulalongkorn School of Integrated Innovation

Chulalongkorn University, Thailand’s top and oldest university, has launched a new “International Academy for the Future” under a Faculty-level Chulalongkorn School of Integrated Innovation, Chulalongkorn University (ScII). The School is now offering \"Bachelor\'s Degree in Arts and Science in Integrated Innovation (BAScii)\", a dream program for international students who want to ride on the global megatrends and the exponential growth of digital technologies. The program might be the first of its kind in Asia to provide a transdisciplinary platform for talented students, encompassing Engineering, Science, Entrepreneurship, Liberal Arts and Social Science. It aims to prepare elite international students with globally relevant experiences in the Asian context, and with the digital and social skills necessary for life-long learning. Chulalongkorn University views this project as part of its digital transformation, to create a cohesive digital ecosystem that will allow the university to address its vital roles in the future society.

The program is planned to be truly international as to recruit 70% of its faculty members from all over the world and aims to attract a diverse batch of international students, 30% from overseas, who want to become 21st century global citizens.

Scope of Assignment

o    Teach and integrate innovative entrepreneurial projects into class, utilizing learning management system (LMS). The work includes course planning, preparation, assignments, exams and grading. 
o    Mentor and supervise students in and outside of classes
o    Academic administration such as admission, curriculum development and assessment, scholarship/award selection, PR events, school activities 
o    Research, collaborative projects and outreach activities
o    Consulting/training services


Institutional Arrangement

The selected faculty member will report directly to the ScII Executive Director and will work closely with the Head of Academic Affairs regarding the academic affairs matters. 
As such, submission of the individual’s proposals and reports shall be coursed through them. The confirmation of acceptability of project proposals, report contents, the authorization of disbursement of payment, and evaluation of performance shall all be undertaken by these ScII personnel.

The ScII Executive Director and the Head of Academic Affairs may bring in other parties within the school to assist in the review of the outputs, as and when deemed necessary.

Deliverables

The selected faculty member is expected to deliver the following outputs which include, but not limited to:

o    Course syllabus including learning objectives, learning schedule, and evaluation criteria
o    Course material and assignments, uploaded on LMS platform
o    Examination
o    Final grades of students
o    Aptitude test and interview questions with answer keys for admission 
o    Admission evaluation on portfolio, aptitude test and interview
o    Course evaluation for curriculum assessment
o    Evaluation on candidates’ application for scholarship/award selection
o    Innovative project/research under ScII
o    As and when required, the individual shall assist in the school activities and be the representative of ScII in PR events as well as to offer the training services as part of the school special program.

Duty Station

The selected individual shall be required to be present at the school to deliver classes, and may work in his/her own office, supervise students. As and when required, he/she should attend the regular school meetings as well as other meetings as scheduled on specific matters.

Qualifications

The successful candidate shall meet the following minimum criteria:

o    Hold a doctoral or professional degree in a related specialization
o    Have past experience in teaching, curriculum development and international student mentoring
o    Possess excellent English communication and organizational skills
o    Have demonstrated ability in developing entrepreneurial/innovation mindset
o    Having internationally published papers and/or patents

Specialization in Applied Digital Intelligence Innovation

1.  A Ph.D. in a topic of relevance to innovation for Applied Digital Intelligence (e.g. Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Applied Statistics) or a related field

2.  Minimum of 3 years’ experience of Teaching in Big Data and Analytics, Machine Learning, IoT/Embedded Systems, Mixed reality (AR/VR/MR), AI and Robotic Applications, as well as experience in applying various artificial intelligence techniques to real-world problems using data analytics tools and coding software such as R, python, Matlab or equivalent are preferred

3.  Experience with multiple pedagogical methods, including problem-based teaching, project-based teaching and team-based teaching, in transdisciplinary subjects, innovative teaching tools and instructional technology

4.  Experience with transdisciplinary curriculum development and assessment is a plus

5.  Must have fluency in English, both written and spoken, as well as excellent technical writing skills and computer literacy

6.  Strong commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring students, conducting innovative project, and assisting in academic administration and school activities

7.  Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills including motivating, collaborating, listening and communication skills

8.  Experience working effectively in an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community

9.  Must be well-versed in the changes that are impacting (or are likely to impact) the economy, with a keen understanding of the technological and global forces that are disrupting and reshaping business models

It is highly expected from the selected individual to maintain the highest level of confidentiality to the information provided before, during and after the completion of the contract, especially regarding the school projects. He/she shall practice highest standard of professional and ethical values and norms working as a full-time faculty member.

Duration of Employment

Successful candidate will be offered a 2-year contract appointment. Renewal of contract will be contingent upon excellent performance.
